Fast food is all about marketing. The quality isn't there and never was. Even back in the nineties, you could wind up paying $10 for a Roy Rogers chicken meal. It isn't faster, it is just sitting out on a warming table. If that is all you need, a buffet is fast food also and more homemade. I went to a farmer's market and a loaf of sourdough focaccia was $12 as were most of the breads. They are large, but still, that is the highest I have ever seen. Another place wants $8 for a medium sized tub of salad, and when I got it the last time, it was mostly all spinach leaves and a little bit of noodles with a few pieces of tofu and a few scraps of vegetables. Every economic sector is gouging all they can out of whoever they can. It isn't about working with your neighbor, it is about capitalizing on their vulnerability and playing on their emotions.
