  1. In NJ I went to two different coffee shops/juice bars/cafes. The first one was $17 for a smoothie and a brownie. The second one was $12 for hummus toast with tapenade. So, it cost basically $30 for take-out. The second shop had four rooms that were all crammed full of people working on computers or socializing so that you could barely find a seat. The first one had one other person walk in when I was there. So, I don't know how much they are selling in both places, but these were the hottest, busiest of such shops in both towns. I just think the prices are outrageous. If it is something special that is carefully crafted with fine ingredients, then you might splurge once in a while for a special occasion. To go there regularly or often isn't possible unless you have money to spare. They might need to have some loss leaders on the menu to get some people in the door at an affordable price. The second shop had really comfortable furniture, cute decor, free Wi-Fi, and then free unlimited lemon water with glasses. The first shop had free Wi-Fi and then books and games and even a play area for children. They are trying hard to stay in business.
