A lot of the new homeless have no idea how to survive on the streets either. They weren't street people to begin with. It is going to be very hard. Probably a lot of crime will result. There has to be some respect for people's homes whether they rent or not. There has to be rental increase caps of 5% or some other method to insure that everyone isn't run out into the streets. It seems that is the goal of the system now.

@rangerdoc1029 rental assistance does it already and the landlord submits a request for increase. They are still getting a lot of rent.

Was this written intentionally to be incoherent?

They don't want Americans with an American mindset. They want refugees with an entitlement mindset. They are here to embarrass Americans saying if we can make it, why can't you? They are probably refugees from the law or forcibly driven slaves and that is why they are coming in many instances.

True, but it is also a private residence of the landlord. If people in general can say no pets, no kids, no unmarried couples, no smoking, etc. it keeps decreasing the number of properties available to people when it is a critical to life commodity.

Didn't you get fixed interest on a mortgage? I think I would feel safer in a private house. At least you can fix what needs to be fixed instead of fighting the landlord to get it done.

If a landlord files an eviction on someone for failure to pay rent or holdover, that stays on a secret blacklist that landlords and realtors use. Whether that person wins or loses, just the fact that they were filed against puts them out of the game. No one bothers to ask the tenant their side of the story or tries to determine if it was a fair eviction. There is so much competition for housing especially at the low end that landlords can be super selective and indifferent to what tenants need. Sealing records would probably help tenants and avoid spite filings that amount to nothing but a ruined rental life of the tenant. Do tenants ger background checks on landlords? Some of them are very shady. Some building managers and maintenance are criminals, drunks and drug addicts. We have to have faith in them, while they can judge us for not looking perfect? It isn't really fair.
