What a reasonable person would do and always used to do was simply don't make eye contact, change cars or wait for the train to stop and get a different train or car. You don't choke someone to death for ranting on a train. That used to be taken for granted as part of the fabric of NYC. Now these young people are raised with the mindset that anyone different or troublesome must be removed. That is for the conductors to decide not people riding on the train who don't like to hear it. You can claim you were scared all you want, but that doesn't give you the right to attack another person.
