  2. Brine doesn't seem to help. They should just put down sand and gravel and make sure people slow down. In fact, when I was driving slow in a snow/ice storm in the mountains of NJ, the cop pulled me over so all the racers could pass. This is what is causing the accidents. People aren't cautious drivers. I never heard of this multicar pile ups until recent years when brine came in. People need to have decent tires, use low gear, and slow down.
