He thinks of himself as a compassionate guy, but when it came down to it, he really failed. That was his chance to show how compassionate he is. He had no idea she was there until the arborist told him. He could have made friends with her and had him watch his house maybe. Why not share? It is like the rich man and Lazarus, but the rich man let Lazarus lie under his table and eat his scraps with the animals. He wouldn't even let this desperate woman have a scrap of forest that he didn't even notice or care about. This whole story is nuts. Of course, that was her lighting a fire on someone else's stairs. That was her home, and she had nowhere else to go. She is probably in a panic looking for anywhere to live and he threw out her tent and belongings. He has his view and private tennis court, and what else, every scrap of forest. so that no one else can even shelter there in secret? The tree trimmer should have kept his mouth shut.
