I don't know how true this is. It is very hard to commute over the border. Who would want to go through US customs every day? There is some scary crime in Mexico, you need to speak Spanish a lot of places, you can get sick on the water, etc. They don't have the same protocols and standards in the Mexican medical establishments as in the USA. The irony is that rich people going there drive up prices for housing, but Mexicans coming to the USA take over the poorer areas and leaves those Americans without housing and entry level jobs. It is hard to get work in a lot of industries such as restaurants and construction, landscaping, etc. because the Hispanics have taken them over. A lot of Hispanics come here, make their money and leave or keep sending it back to their home countries. It seems these Americans want to stay down there for whatever reason. Mexico can be a pretty scary place.
