Ivanka is trained to lie for her father.  If she doesn't who knows what could happen to her?  She is like a spokesmodel for his brand.  She has no real stance of her own, she would be in danger if she did.  Her husband is the son of a known criminal.  They are both used to making excuses for their crooked parents.
