  1. Maybe they are being tortured in these housing situations. If a dog is abused, it will run away. If a child is abused, it will run away. Why wouldn't adults who already know how to live on the street rather do that than be trapped in an abusive apartment? A lot of people hate their apartment. There are probably shady people living there and the management could be lazy and shady and maybe they don't like being treated like they are being done a huge favor to have to stay somewhere they don't like. Attitude is everything, not just for them, but for the people working for them in providing the housing. If you are a paying customer and say you hate something, hate that there is no yard, people would say okay, I understand. If these people who are used to being outside or the Africans who were used to living simply in their own culture hate the new norms forced on them, why can't people say, okay, that is your opinion? Just because you have very little doesn't mean you should take and be grateful for whatever anyone gives you. That is very telling if 45% are actually dying in these apartments. The stress must be off the charts.

  2. The grass is always greener. You hate where you are, but at least it is housing. That is their situation also.
