  1. Not sure why USN designers thought a single rudder on the Atlantas was a reasonable balance of factors. I think that single rudder warships are an odd choice. A warship is a liability without its balance of gun armor and mobility. Take out the rudder and there goes mobility. Is it possible that dual rudder warships are also better turners? In any case, a ship intended to escort carriers needs to be BOTH fast and maneuverable.

  2. I stayed. Naval matters in the background while I wrote in a current novel. Very pleasant. Better than TV on several quality of life levels.
