  1. For the Luftwaffe, read Galland. He states that the OKL did, indeed, bring high scoring pilots home to a desk job. Where they promptly agitated for a return to action. My spin on it is that it was most likely the speed*. Back home, they weren't handing it out. At the front, however, everyone was speeding his head off. *Amphetamines. If you're a Speed Freak, you won't want to give it up. Believe me. I've dated two.
