  3. Personal opinion here: The hidden beauty of WW2 aircraft has to be the Westland Whirlwind. Calling the engines buggy does not disguise the fact that almost all new engines require ironing out. If the same effort as was put into Merlin had been spent on the Peregrines, the Whirlwind would have been the top twin of the war.
