  2. An aerostat can be programmed to follow a vertical profile that inserts it into the jet stream. Wind provides the power and an aerostat in the jet stream can top 200mph. Up or down and you'll find wind currents just like those in the sea. We're well aware of the properties of aerostats. World transits have been done before, using just that altitude variability to choose appropriate wind streams to take an aerostat where it wants to go without expending any power at all. We could do it. Here's a question: how many times have UFO reports been linked to "weather balloons"? So-yeah. That's what we're dealing with here. Not shaped like a sphere? Well, lots of aerostats aren't shaped like spheres. Dangling strips? Stealth features. Duh.
