  3. I had the saying from a Japanese war bride (Yoshiko Fair), who was 18 when the war ended. She was from a well educated family, which means she was well familiar with the Classics and Chinese History. More familiar than I, apparently. From our favorite argument mill, Wikipedia: "Whilst ruling his kingdom, Goujian never relished kingly riches, but instead ate food suited for peasants, as well as forcing himself to taste bile, in order to remember his humiliations while serving under the State of Wu.   4. Yep. I appreciate the warning. I learned about editorial spin in school during the '60s, where the art of it was completely misused, and with malice, I might add. Consequently, the suspension of disbelief is something I only enjoy for purposes of entertainment. Never education. Part of the appeal of the internet as an open forum is Grammar Police and the wide base of folks who fact check for-or against-any particular presentation or comment. And the trolls. The integration of all the factors allows for an active mind to stay active, long after others have settled into the couch and sprouted roots. That's a worthy work, keeping a questing mind active, interested in perfecting (and/or correcting) its world view.

  6. I am having second thoughts about this wonderful narrative. Did anyone count the ability of Japan to put up an effective resistance to US Invasion? 1) No gas for their planes. 2) No Oil for their ships. 3) Only Picric Acid for explosives and propellants. 4) no factories left able to produce materiel of war 5) No means of shooting down Allied Aircraft (no RaDARs left after the bombing, no industry to replace them). 6 Unable to feed her people--not a cipher, a real limitation. Soldiers can't fight without food. 7) And a National Plan to provide-get this-Wooden Spears to the militia, because more effective weapons could not be provided. 8) Zero raw materials for producing anything useful in war. Why are we thinking it would NOT be a cakewalk? Russia could've done it. We could've done it. Heck-we did it to Germany, and she was better able to resist than Japan was. I think we're just having fun with a new meme. That was the logical analysis. Personally? I think we did not invade, or blockade, simply because of the economic stress it would've caused us. After all, we brought down the enemy governments EVERYWHERE else and then executed an abrupt volte face, policy-wise, for Japan . . . because we were afraid? Does NOT add up. Thanks for taking time to audit this..

  7. Thanks for your comment. You might want to check up on the whole "storing and stockpiling gas" thing. Japan went to war because she was SHORT on fuel. They were making pine oil fuels at the end, woefully low energy density, certainly unable to power modern aircraft. And, as I said, they had no "stockpiles".

After all the Vatican is the sole arbiter of the doctrines of Jesus, claiming to hold his official blessing in an unbroken chain of constant, never changing, sacred doctrine. Must be stuff about the Prince of Peace that only the elect know.
