  1. Banks foreclosed on the nardscrabble farmers in what was popularly referred to as the "Dust Bowl". Then the banks sold all those properties in large scale lots to big depositors . . . just before the Rural Electrification act was signed. A few families ended up owning vast tracts of land in the midwest, and getting free electricity and telephone in perpetuity. The land reform meant to benefit the poor was, instead, used as a land grab by the rich. This was all part of a fairly straightforward plot to manipulate a worldwide disaster and profit hugely by it by being the only folks with the cash to buy up all those foreclosed mortgages for a song. One giant swindle on the part of our top financial heads. The proof is in the mass advertising campaign that tricked middle class folks into risking their futures on a gamble. It was all one big, simple, fairly straightforward, scam. Today everything they did would be illegal. Yay.
