  1. Just curious; considering the dearth of supercarriers elsewhere and her utter lack of near peers in the region, why would China want to build a money pit like that? All I can think is "under the table rake-offs". A LOT of money can be misappropriated in the course of a supercarrier's construction and outfitting and maintenance contracts. China's great myth is that she has "never invaded anyone". Adding the caveat "successfully" makes it true. So why a supercarrier and why now, when her national infrastructure is in shambles?
