All of those holes in our penal system exposed . . . and no one will be held responsible for the comprehensive evidence this case provides for comprehending the scope of what must be system-wide incompetence. 1) Cameras that don't work. Who was paid for camera testing and maintenance work they did not provide? 2) Guards not on duty. Who okayed their pay for those hours? 3) Prisoner checks not made. That's El Chapo level negligence, which means fat payoffs. Whether this travesty of our federal punishment system was bought and paid for by the friends of Epstein, or those of his enemies, it should be recognized that a culture of bribery exists in a place where it is both destructive and devolutionary. *Depending on where he's placed. If he's a member of the right prison gang, in a place the gang's influence is strong . . . he'll be effectively immune . . . for a while. Even in the heart of a cult, money buys loyalty.
