  1. Life was so much easier when I was young, Ian. The USA had won two wars, plus Korea, basically by itself . . . if you didn't see the man behind the curtain was twisting him up some narrative. Panther was better, but Sherman won the war- with damn little help from Russky over there in his transmission challenged T34- due to numerical superiority and the svelte superiority of standardization . . . M4A2 and M4A4 aside* . . . and the B29's daring daylight precision was the reason Japan surrendered. Kids- don't make houses out of wood or Lemay will get you. To find out we were just as bedeviled as our Commie (CCCP) and OCB (Deutscher) opposites . . . conflicting requirements, changing doctrine, too much booze in the planning rooms . . . NAZI sympathizers and fellow travelers in every washroom . . . gives me better perspective on a lot of things . . . and a headache.
