My father served in Italy with the 135th Red Bull Division. In the box of letters I have, one is a prayer he wrote, “a soldier’s prayer from a foxhole.” He was a machine gunner, landed in North Africa and went through Italy in what the army called ‘The Road to Rome.’ I’ve got the booklet of that title given to the men, and my father’s pocket army issue New Testament, his dress coat, and a box of miscellaneous trinkets, just little things. He wouldn’t take anything off any dead soldiers like a lot of the guys did. He thought of their families. My father was my best friend, and a strong Christian man. I miss him every day but I’ll see him again - sooner rather than later. Bible prophecy tells us this. He also said, like most men did, “no atheists in foxholes.” Or in tanks, planes, marching or anywhere else. Even guys who claimed to not believe always called out for God when anything happened. They found they needed Him after all, and that Jesus saves. Thank you for sharing your stories. I’ll be checking out your channel. God bless you and your family, Chris.
Edit: I subbed, thanks! First think I saw: There is a Fountain, Amen!
