  1. That’s the difference in cultural practices. This is an everyday occurrence with many cultures. You only have to read to understand such things. People do not read anymore these days, with the excuse that they “don’t have time.” Excuses replace time. People who read make the time to do so, whereas the rest make the same trite excuses because they don’t make time, but I digress: as to child and women regarding beatings: in some ME and eastern cultures a man is expected to beat his new bride the first night of the honeymoon. The bruises are inspected by families and often by the local clerics so they can see if the size of the bruises are sufficient to show both a husband’s expected dominance and his new wife’s proper submission. Beating children is expected in their way of proper rearing, but should an outsider interfere for some reason, either by intervening or abusing the child themselves, the outsider is heavily punished and the child may even be beaten again for putting themselves into a situation where they were exposed to mistreatment by an outsider. Any such practices are egregious to us (especially as westerners) because we do not practice nor approve of such things, but other cultures do. It’s apples to oranges, so to speak. I’m thankful for my blessings, for being born into the comforts and freedoms of my country, and for the family values once practiced and respected by the previous generations’ sacrifices. Today’s youth are, for the most part, spoiled, lazy, entitled people who have unrealistic views and expectations. Seeing the breakdown of mores and values we once had has been most difficult to witness. No generation is perfect, but once upon a time children were taught to respect and obey their parents and elders. That’s mostly gone. So goes the way of the earth, but that time grows short.
