  1. A very nice biography piece on Lily, thank you. I can’t imagine people today doing what these people did. How many miles did she travel by bicycle I wonder, living on the road and by her wits. Gutsy, multilingual, very intelligent.

  2. They were operational in 1941 I know. There were four camps in which thousands of people were killed. I don’t know where 1934 comes in as Yugoslavia was not occupied at that time. This must’ve been in error.

  3. Thank you, PT. Reading about her life is an adventure, as Lily’s adventures throughout her life are the stuff of real legend. All the WWII spy’s stories are exceptional to their various degrees, but Lily’s life was uniquely so if only for the sheer physicality of her walking and cycling through these countries. How different people have become, reminding me of the American label of ‘tenderfoot.’ We are soft, privileged, lazier in the ways of endeavors and undertakings. Fortunately our lives are what they are because of the people who provided us the privileges we enjoy, that so many take for granted (to put it mildly).
