@eschur You are right. America embargoed anything military to go to Israel, but ex military pilots rushed their US citizenship to start the Israeli Air Force which was nonexistent at the time. There are a couple of excellent documentaries about that. They helped get planes, fighters abd bombers, ammo, weapons, tools, equipment, everything. Ironically, the rifles the got were the post WWII German issued rifles with the eagles stamped on the trigger housing. There are some excellent documentaries on that. The US lost some guys who stayed in Israel because they couldn’t come back. They’d flown and manned planes out of the US through various routes to get them, ammo and bombs to Israel. Fascinating history.

@renarddubois940 American, Canadian, South America and others built the Israeli Air Force and taught them to fly. They flew over Egypt and bombed their British spitfires and runways to smithereens. There are documentaries on this, you should watch them.
