  2. They were given methamphetamine in a drug called Pervitin, a CNS stimulant to keep them awake for days and that also would dull their senses to the horrors of death. There were a lot of problems with drugs post war because of Pervitin and also morphine and methadone, the latter being a Nazi created drug. Allied troops were given amphetamines which kept them awake but they felt fatigue, so they could collapse when they were pushed too long. The British troops used Benzedrine in pill and inhalant form.
