My “nice” Calphalon stovetop kettle sits to the side nowadays, unseen and - til now - forgotten about. Get over yourselves, everybody, but this ole gal uses a Walmart five cup coffee maker to make my tea from loose (I keep a vanilla bean snippet in that basket too to calm the tannins, and you use that til tea - or coffee - gets a bit bitter again. Yeah, in about two, three minutes I’m on my first cup. And I add almost a full extra cup of water when two cups have run through (right quick) to make a total of six cups for my big ole 12-ounce cup. I use more energy putting all that together to get that first cup than that little $4 (yes indeedy, that’s $4, plus tax) coffee/tea maker has ever put out on a daily basis. Boiling water for anything else? I always did love to cook. And was always a wonderful cook. That takes time and planning, and waiting on boiling water sometimes is a part of that. If I get in a hurry for that tea though, I’ll get myself up three minutes early. Y’all enjoy those kettles.
