The Aston Martin Vantage is the literal direct competitor to the Jaguar F-Type to the point they even look alike and has butter fly doors and it's shorter and in closer price range then Porsche which is over $200k. Murray's demand on having a central driving position which is also now evident in the new T.50 and T.33. The reason the damn SLR has the doors comes from the original McLaren F1 and Gordon Murray now design signature. The reason the damn Lambos got long was due to large size buyers, aero and safety, otherwise they'd all still be as small as the Countach which is a very small car. There's literal fundamental reasons why dihedral doors are on the McLarens and Gullwing on the Mercedes. Gullwing specifically, because of racing and the high door sill not accommodating a traditional door due the tubular frae chasis. It's not some childhood fantasy you have bro, it's literal *ENGINEERING* problem solving. It's also the spiritual successor to the original 300 SL R and Stirling Moss. The SLS based on the original 300 SL which wasn't a super car or a sports car, both new and old are *GT* cars. **Length has absolutely nothing to do with anything**. I literally listed 'brand new' hyper cars, super cars, sports cars, economy cars, that are nearly a foot shorter than a Aventador, Murceilago, P1, Senna, and even shorter than the F-Type Jag, Aston Martin Vantage, etc. There's other cars to use it that were economy cars, sports cars, etc in the past. *The McLaren SLR isn't a super car* , it's GT car. The F12 Berlinetta, DBS are GT cars. A damn Bugatti Veyron has traditional doors. We have had butterfly, scissor, canopy, suicide etc doors on high volume production cars but due to high expense, reliability and the literal safety hazard they pose to passengers and emergency units, the NHTSA makes it hard to approve them. Mainly due to rollover accidents. The SLR has exploding hinge bolts incase of a rollover. How bout you know your history genius. Go look at the Uhlenhaut Coupé. Go literally look up Lamborghini literature. If you wanna get real deep, go look up Ferruccio Lamborghini tractors. Yes more common vehicles have butterfly doors than super cars, hyper cars etc. Even large ATV (heavy vehicles) have them and sell way more units than these damn low volume road cars that only go fast. Remember Lamborghini was built on tractors. They got too indulged in sports cars and went bust and VW bought them. Only what, 2 Ferraris use them and that's the Enzo and LaFerrari Lambo don't sell that much and neither does McLaren who sell the most variants with dihedral and scissor doors. They're all low volume cars including the F-Type and they're barely profitable even at there high price points. They are losing money genius. 🤦🏾‍♂️
