At some level I understand how the guy feels. I'm a Democrat who regards himself as midway between Biden and Bernie. In 2016 I was so torn between Bernie and Hillary, no, torn is the wrong word, I saw either of them as equally acceptable to me, so I crossed over and voted in the Republican primary just to oppose trump. In fact, what I told folks was that I couldn't wait until November to vote against trump.

It isn't about getting them to vote for Biden, although Lincoln Project and Kasich, etc. do give "permission" to those that might want to. It's about rubbing their noses in how lousy a president and a person that Donald trump is that they just don't cast a vote for president. It's about getting a given percentage of the Republican vote to "self-suppress". It's the flip side of a tactic that worked very well against black voters in 2016. Look it up. More people voted in Detroit but did not cast a ballot for president than trump beat Hillary by in Michigan.
