  1. The first thing a doctor does is stop the bleeding. This was a "stop the bleeding" election. Two years of breathing room is nothing to sneeze at. But, as regards to Joe Scarborough's point (which I didn't actually hear him make) the fact is that it isn't the Democrats who have given AOC and her compatriots any influence, it's the Republicans who have promoted them beyond what they actually are, a quartet of backbenchers. And "Defund the police" is a left-wing slogan that could have come straight from a right-wing think tank. (It even has just three words like all the mindless slogans that the trumpies chant.)
