Maybe your kind of guys are wired different and don't understand the true meaning of relationships. To you you see it as a contract to have access to your lust lock one down to wait on you raise your kids. But true relationships are something deeper and yes in a real one there is a need for the other to be around to share a life to together so yes attention is 100% included. That why living together but ignoring having a separate life from partner causes tension fighting and divorce. A partner is not a sex toy to only on occasion disgust your needs that they must do.

Going to war is serving your country that has nothing to do with an individual's lady's needs. Depends on the women some women might feel pride in it another only care about the man being around for her being in one piece to raise kids have a long life TOGETHER being separate is the opposite of what many women want That is the very same as doing nothing.
