  2. You think it's good when you side with a big partner who easily breaks the rules, and you think you can trust them because they broke some rules and laws to lend you a hand. At least, you were happy while you trusted them and believed it was all because they are good and want you to be good. The USSR never was a good friend, all they wanted was expanding, and when they couldn't do so — the Union used various territories as a way to proxy its borders, somewhat like the Russian Empire did towards, say, Turkey, and so on.

They're still doing it, those who want the USSR back, they tell one another stories about how great they and their unique weapons are, and it distracts them from managing real world problems and living their own lives.
