@staticrealm61 no, watches have been very expensive items for over centuries. Even a simple hand wound unfinished movement watch could cost multiple months worth of average wage

@boohere2 the whole thing is: if you want to look cool and good with a Rolex watch, you will need to pay to Rolex. It is not far to rolex to copy their product, design, even use their name on the product and thrive on their marketing expenses selling cheap copies at a fraction of the price. It is not fair to Rolex

@suren5174 I am not convinced and haven’t seen any evidence that the supply is intentionally limited. Rolex is making well over a million units per year. That is one of the highest amounts in the industry. If anybody is to blame, it is the customer itself. Still buying mass produced steel daytona’s and Hulks at 30K when every other brand from Switzerland offers more interesting, gold, and even hand finished stuff at that level.

@sempervelox he fails to understand that there are markets/companies where fysical production is just an almost irrelevant final step in the process of development

@suren5174 how is Rolex not fair to customers? Because demand is higher than supply?

@suren5174 Rolex states that the distribution of watches to costumers is the responsibility of the AD’s. They don’t want to involve in this and get their hands burned. It is a gift to the ADs as well, as they profit extra of the sales to grey market.
2
@HNemo880 Rolex doesnot sell to any customer, the AD does. The AD happily sells to someone looking like they are homeless as long as that person brings profitable business. They want to make money. We can cry about it, but that’s just what business is

It is a long time ago I saw such an inefficient amateurish working place anywhere besides africa. Of course people can get a job this way, but that shouldn’t be the end goal. If so, they can also clean the streets everyday..
2
@julpasali exactly my thought 😂
2
@CharliMorganMusic how do you know? It is not easy to upgrade the production by 100K watches a year. Besides, I don’t think that producing 10-20% extra watches would do anything with the current Rolex market/allocation situation.
1
@vanillagorilla2747 where do I say that? Rolex cares about bringing out good quality watches as part of their brand reputation. So if you want good quality, reliable and sturdy watch, then go buy a REAL Rolex

@niallburke8985 only dumb people normalize injustice against rich people/institutions. Injustice is injustice, wether you are a poor single mother or Rolex
1
@dreamerx23 when they keep working in this 18th century fashion it will surely “be awhile before they run out of things to do” 😂 The only difference with Africa is that they make end user products (and the most basic ones at that) - just add some stuff, stir and wait 🙃

@ryanrodriguez5293 medium to high would be anything from Longines to Rolex/Blancpain. High end would be AP/PP/Lange. RM/Greubel forsey/PP complications would be ultra high end
1
@bluenick4577 some brands do, like Rolex. Others don’t. They provide value, artisanship and many hours of perfection
1
@samsonsoturian6013 the most sold watch from Rolex is a Ladies watch. Apart from that, most rolex watches are sporty and have many brushed finishes, they are not peacocky at all.
