One particular incident involved a Chinese professor who was harassed by U.S. authorities. They demanded to see his health insurance, but he refused, invoking his Fourth Amendment rights. In response, the authorities allegedly ransacked his home and damaged his computer, acting with the disregard of repo men. To make matters worse, corporate-suit-wearing agents reportedly threatened the professor, warning him not to report the incident to Chinese media or authorities. They even implied that his wife and children would be in grave danger if he did. Yes, these claims are real and deeply concerning.
