  28. No, it's entirely consistent. They have a very specific idea of how sex works and its purpose. The use of contraception is antithetical to the idea that the outcome of sexual activity is ultimately controlled by God. In the same way that christians disempower people with respect to death and the right to die, they seek to disempower people where reproduction is concerned. Sex is seen as a mystical act, not governed by biology or human intent, but by the active will of god who ultimately chooses whether any sex act results in impregnation.
