  10. I'm not sure anyone actually trusts the numbers, but in the absence of any independent figures, what alternative is there to using them as a rough guide. Make some up? Not use any numbers? Go to China and have a bit of a poke around?

  12. The point he was making is that novel diseases have more significant effects on account of our immune system's unfamiliarity with the pathogen. Not that NCoV will kill millions, but that it will likely do better during its first encounter with the human immune system than in subsequent episodes.

  15. Well, yes you can go out and get your own oxygen. All you need is the right regulator, a flow meter and the tubing and mask. Add in the oxygen from your gas supplier and you're good to go. I'm not saying it will be cheap, but definitely doable if you really want to.
