  1. The big takeaway is we can't have civil discussions. We have incredibly complicated and nuanced topics absolutely worth discussing in detail but instead of a sophisticated debate, it's dumbed down to black vs white, or red vs blue. We either support one thing or we are evil and support x, y, and z. We do this with just about everything related to societal issues. Too many assumptions, too little tolerance. It's only exasperated by the fact that we try to have these discussions using 150 characters or less. I think we can do better. It leaves me wondering if it's all by design or if our own inadequacies are getting the best of us.
