The Eastern Airline L-1011 crash in the Florida Everglades around 1973 is a good example of that. The cockpit crew got preoccupied trying to troubleshoot a landing gear indication problem, and allowed the airplane to gradually fly into the ground....

  2. Matt from Florida >>> Each engine has two magnetos. During pre-takeoff engine run-up checks, the pilot will run the engine {or engines} on each magneto separately to make sure they're both performing correctly.
