  3. FWIW: When I was a kid, our church occasionally had an event where homemade ice cream was made. They had both electric and hand-cranked ice cream makers. I attempted to 'power' the hand-cranked versions. I rather quickly determined if I EVER acquired an ice cream maker of my own it would be ELECTRIC. 😊

  10. I presume pre-20th century settlers living where I grew up -- Saint Petersburg, Florida {or most of Central & Southern Florida} would NOT have had any way to secure ice. Unless it was transported there...?
