Regarding the first image in this video: I know that dry docking ships {having them completely out of water during construction, or for maintenance} has been a thing for centuries, if not millennia. That said, seeing a large ocean going vessel like this -- ESPECIALLY a NUCLEAR SUBMARINE -- completely out of the water and INSIDE an EVEN BIGGER BUILDING, has ALWAYS held a bit of a 'WOW FACTOR' for me.

They never heard it coming...😊

I did not know that some diving suits were designed to deal with NBC contamination, but it makes sense.

@H I Sutton - Covert Shores >>> I am posting this while I am watching the video, at about the 08:10 mark. You mentioned the submarine that fired a torpedo underwater, being the first submarine to do so. What was the source of propulsion for the torpedo? Was it also some kind of steam power plant?

@H I Sutton - Covert Shores >>> Regarding how false data is introduced, particularly regarding the British and Dutch warships that were recorded by webcam as NOT being underway, do those ships continue transmitting data when they are in port?

IIRC, the sister ship to the British HMS EXPLORER -- nicknamed EXPLODER -- was the HMS EXCELSIOR. It earned the nickname EXCRUCIATOR. 🤭 ALSO: The USS X-1 is {or was} on display in a museum here in the United States. {Maybe the US Navy's museum in New England.}

FWIW: I just watched the "First Sighting..." video you posted today {14 March 2025}, before starting this one. I find these vessels both fascinating and potentially frightening.

FWIW: My favorite 'submarine movie', although it is completely fictional, is Disney's 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA from 1954.

@HISuttonCovertShores >>> Just an observation on an image appearing at about 12:56 in this video: That submarine appears to have its bow to the left & stern to the right, and is travelling to the left. The exhaust from the smokestack matches that. However, the profile of the conning tower makes it appear as though the bow should be to the right and stern to the left. EDIT → At about 21:24 in this video: That drawing shows the conning tower in the profile I would expect to see.

At 05:29 in this video: IMHO, SWATH vessels -- and multihulled vessels in general -- are COOL...👍👍

@HISuttonCovertShores >>> While watching this video, something occurred to me: Steam powered submarines burning oil could just shut off the burners in preparation for diving. I presume the earliest steam powered subs ran on coal. How would you 'shut off' a coal-fired combustion system prior to submerging? Just shutter it closed to remove its oxygen source?

Regarding the new Russian "Poseidon" torpedoes, I thought of this little [whatever]... Post-Soviet-Era-Reliability PLUS "Open the pod bay doors please HAL." EQUALS WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG?! {UNFORTUNATELY, that is where the humor ENDS....}

On the Losharik diagram, It looks like the sphere containing the nuclear reactor is completely separate from the spheres containing the crew.
