  2. FWIW: I have visited the Grand Canyon just once, back in 1988. It is IMO much the same as seeing Devil's Tower in person. The two most significant things I noticed while at GC: (1) It is BIG. You can see that in photographs and videos, but in person it is REALLY, REALLY BIG. (2) The sedimentary layering. It is obvious in photographs and video, just like the size of the place. But it REALLY catches your attention when you see it in person.
