  1. I rarely clean my engine compartment, but when I do I use Dawn as well. Just a bucket of warm, soapy water and a shop towel. I don't spray anything in the engine compartment, just get the rag wet and wipe it down. It doesn't have to be perfect, but you can get it looking pretty good just wiping things down. People go so overboard on stuff that doesn't matter.

  2. It would blow your mind how many so-called professional detailers are on youtube making videos on how to pressure wash your engine compartment. There is no arguing with those folks. They insist that it's not harmful.
