IMO you need a V8 (at least, diesel if you tow regularly) in a full size pickup, for no other reason but to accommodate the weight of the vehicle. V6 in a Tacoma is perfect, not in a Tundra. You know why people say V8's are smooth? Because the engine isn't straining as much under load than a V6 or 4-cylinder. I'm sorry but the old cliche "no replacement for displacement" is true. I just don't see small engines holding up in the long run in these big trucks.

@user-tb7rn1il3q Just not true. Turbo-charging an engine puts more strain on it, reducing longevity. Naturally aspirated engines will outlast turbo all day.

@user-tb7rn1il3q I will stick to tried and true when it comes to truck engines in regards to pulling and hauling. At least until I can't buy them anymore. With turbo, you're forcing an engine to perform beyond it's natural capabilities, and I think that will affect dependability in the long run. If you're ok with it go for it, they are capable engines, I'm just not sold on them.
