Any vehicle with 400,000 relatively trouble-free miles with the original engine and transmission still intact has been a good car. These repairs are to be expected. They're moving parts, and no moving part will last forever. However, at this stage in it's life, I wouldn't put too much money into it, like he said, there really is no way to tell how close the transmission is to failing, and the engine as well.

@rightlanehog3151 Take care of your equipment and it'll take care of you. It always blows my mind when people don't take care of their vehicles. They're depreciating assets, you might as well get as much life out of them as possible.

@rightlanehog3151 That's for the owner to decide, but once you start spending more money than it would cost to buy a used one with way less wear and tear, you have to question going any further with it. There is a limit to how long cars last up here, the rust eventually destroys everything. Pretty soon everything is falling apart.
