  1. You can still save for retirement while renting. You don't have to own a home. I own a home, and believe me, it's not necessarily better than renting, there are ongoing expenses. One isn't better than the other, but if you rent, you have to be extra disciplined and make it a point to save.

  2. I will be retiring at 51 or 52. I've been saving 25-30% of my income for the last 15 years. I will have a pension at 55 as well. I just don't get how some of these FIRE people come up with their numbers. Thinking you can retire in your 30's or early 40's with a million dollars is delusional. You will not be happy, and you run a huge risk of running out of money.
