Drake’s Beach in California is worth a visit .. definitely a good place to haul a boat out .. and lots of delicious elephant seals everywhere and great white sharks
9

They proved how Gallantly they could die in every engagement; as did the Royal Navy and the US and IJN !
7
Very Active Service Indeed … ! And that’s some wonderful Reconstructive surgery .. did they keep the original bow or did they change the profile..?
7
Just finished the 6 hr Dry Dock … and Good Morning … The Reason for the invention of the United States Marine Corp … Thanks to the Author for this Episode…. Our Squadron VMFA -115 was Deployed onboard the USS Forestall in 1981 in the Mediterranean during the entire Gulf of Sidrah crisis .. the Carrier repeatedly crossed the “line of Death “ with all aircraft fully loaded … conducting missile shoots and intercepts on Libyan Migs .. then the Nimitz shows up in the Med in August and Right Away they shoot down two migs …which took the fight right out of the Libyan Air Force that was cool because the next stop was Benidorm Spain .. Then the Arctic 🥶
7
Staggeringly Ambitious… Touché Drach ..! That phrase is a keeper..and this is an excellent episode as well ..
7
And people say … there are no such things as unicorns
7
Every thing a battleship should be ... except for modern radar , air support , thank goodness she was never sent to Guadalcanal
7
Touché

When your using Submarines to run supplies …. I Guess you have lost control of the Seas ……and lost the war but just haven’t admitted it yet ….?
7
Watching the B25’s leap into the air during the launch of the Doolittle Raid .... I’m guessing wind over deck at 30 Kts ...?
7
She Actually became a very beautiful ship …The perfect Rake on the bow that little bit of tuck in the stern .. Motto Bella ..
7
One of the few raids that come close to this one …is the unbelievably Daring Solo Attack by the Beaufort torpedo bomber on Gneiseneau … By F/O Cambell and crew …. Cambell seems to be a name that menaced the Kriegsmarine repeatedly
7
Now …it is we who struggle to keep up with all the cool episodes .. I’m learning as fast as I can
7
20,000 that they know about …!
6
3 V-12 Engines.. You gotta love that ..

Thank you Drach for the many hours of quality programs …. I often think about posting questions but Your next episode magically provides the answer or leads to a 100 more questions … so I just keep watching … Cheers
6
So … One good countermeasure deserves another .. or turnabout is fair play..?
6
It’s Not Cupid’s arrow 💘 … but it is the thought that counts…as marine drones have just sank another Rooskie landings ship .. My how things have changed ….
5
The USS KIDD DD 661 just entered dry dock ( floating ) for some much needed repairs .. Their website has an excellent YouTube video about it ..with quality drone footage…It’s some good news for us here in the US .. as The SS United States is bound to be a dive site ..
5
Many Thanks to the Author for this episode …the story of HMS Revenge is one of my favorite because of the artworks ability to bring a well told story alive … and I do share in your appreciation of that HMS Hood Painting …seeing her last moments Recreated is quite thought provoking…and gut wrenching …!
5
The Big 150 Congratulations 🎊….! Was the Auto Gyro used to its full potential by the allies both countries had good examples… Only Japan had a ASW Carrier… But I Wonder if it was a missed opportunity for Both ASW work and development into the modern assault ship…?Thank You .. and keep up the good work …!
5
The Island of Malta the unsinkable aircraft carrier …I wonder how many R/N Ships were lost in the defense of Malta 🇲🇹 in WW2 ,and aircraft … a whole lot of Similarities to the diurnal shift change siege of Guadalcanal …and some differences
5

5
Yet again another Great episode …. ! So it’s Bismarck version 2.0 and you are the Architect ….how would you change the design and fundamentally where did they go wrong on the first version….. or would you have used the tonnage for some other type ?
5
The Royal Navy sure has had some interesting names for their ships ... Glorious.. Furious.... Devastation Etc. Compared with the rather pedestrian names the U.S. Navy uses ... has their been any ill - fated or overly aspirational names that stand out from history ? Thanks so much .... I watched Dry dock episodes for 8 hours last night ... and enjoyed them all ...
5
@mindbomb9341 anyone who believes in a flat earth has never been to sea ..!
4
Possibly Japans most effective weapon…… and the automatic reload device really explains the Swarms of Long Lances during the Guadalcanal campaign … now I wonder what the IJN doctrine and training was like …
4

4
Any book with The Drachinifel seal of approval is well worth the read … or the Listen ..especially if Drach is the narrator

This fascinating episode raises the great question of amphibious vehicles.. Are The DUKW , Amphicar snd Toyboata .. the only Amphibious vehicles to make it across the Channel.. and would the Ammtrack and DUKW be episode worthy …just out of engineering uniqueness alone and the evolution of them into fighting vehicles… Thanks very much ..
4
Thanks For another fascinating episode … The Virginia WVA highlands is the Home of some of the most beautiful river Basins The Potomac … the James … the Roanoke … the New “ironically the worlds 2nd oldest and north flowing ‘ and the Holsten … this area is also rich in coal , iron , lead , and potassium nitrate … the local Railroad Bridge over the New wasn’t captured until the last week of the war …The James River Canals Went as far north as what is now the I81 corridor …and the Potomac canal was Washington’s pet project
4
Changing admirals mid-stream....? I’m sure Sun Tzu warned against it somewhere in that book ...... Well ......As long as your changing admirals .....I wonder how Admiral Cunningham would have fought this battle ...?
3
Excellent Work ..Really enjoyed the drone shots and technical drawings, not to mention top shelf guest and this fascinating story .. I believe this channel is the go to source for Naval History .. Touche Drach ..!
3
Now the great question about Brass Cased Shells and their merits vrs Bagged Powder and their respective histories … ?
3
The US Navy learned just about everything it knew until about WW2 from the British Navy… much of it the hard way … then we still wouldn’t listen … armored Carriers , convoys… and I’m not sure we ever thanked Britain for centimetric Radar …officially
3
The Royal Navy has more operational experience in the horrid conditions of the North Sea and above the arctic circle than other Navies… seems like the greatest testing site for foul conditions are quite close by … and designs can be shaken down close to home …is their a certain place they took new designs to see how they ran ..!?
3
I’m going back rewatching all 5 min guides ... because it’s so darn interesting .....!
