So what ever happened to the swing wing trend …? .. I do appreciate the Dr Strangelove clips …. Only The genius of Kubrick could make us laugh about nuclear war …!
1
Congratulations … I’m surprised it’s not 4 million … I really value your viewpoint on military matters …
1
Now that’s a aircraft that can really tell some stories and truly deserves preservation..!
1
Guadalcanal … there were some hard lessons learned indeed … the Treaty era cruiser demolition derby … Iron bottom sound night engagements … US Aircraft Carriers Learning how to fight and defend … all over one Airfield … so one can see why they wanted a Super Duper Corsair…it’s a Good Luck Charm …
1
@Håkan Bergvall Touché
1
@allangibson2408 they also had the Studebaker 2.5 ton and we sent them 3000 A-20’s and they got their fuel from US They don’t show all the allied tanks they had in the propaganda movies
1
@timonsolus did know that one .. I’m just a fan of the bubble canopy.. for lots of reasons … and Kurt Tanks design Philosophy…
1
I could have been first but it took me a minute to think of something good to ask Oh Yeah speaking of Northrop what is your opinion of the Delta Wing Version of the F-5 …? Thanks
1
A Grumman Naval Fighter that I haven’t heard of ..? Well I’m in ..Thanks Ed ..!
1
It actually looks better with floats …. Go Figure …
1
Dial O for Operational…ability.. or it ain’t pretty … but it works great 👍
1
The Navy wanted a fighter Attack aircraft.. and a better plane for deck landings .. and the landing gear on the F-4 could really take a beating ..
1
I curious as to the author’s opinion on the Supermarine type 317 Bomber … would it have been a great aircraft … if the prototype hadn’t been destroyed by bombing in 1940 … Thanks
1
@EdNashsMilitaryMatters thanks 😊 that’s what I figured … Really points to the loss of Reginald Mitchell … it’s tough when you loose one of the greats
1
Take a beautiful plane and wreck it … if it looks that bad …. It got to fly worse ..
1
Great Story … ! However like all things historical this does pose another question.. of how does the Sten Gun shoot …?
1
I would like to thank the author for his service .. against a foe whose barbarity knows no ends … in a fight that had to be won for the sake of humanity..!

This unveiling/striptease of the Raider just needed some burlesque music and more risqué apparel…
1
@jebise1126 indeed the chunky p-47 with turbo supercharger was almost unbeatable once they put a paddle prop on it …. The Fw190 was better of a war horse than the 109 and the Dora version was the one of the best at high altitude … part of their success was the variable speed supercharger …. And of course the Genius of Kurt Tank and that Diemler Engine…
1
@luisgimenez8660 Now I gotta rewatch the episode about the 190 D-9 version on Greg’sAircraft & Automobiles …I’m surprised our government didn’t grab Kurt Tank and give him a job After the war
1
I was reading about the Italian Armored vehicle during WW2 called the Saharaina .. it looked very capable and supposedly it was the bane of the SAS … I was wondering if it would be episode worthy sometime in the future..? Thank very much..
1
@EdNashsMilitaryMatters thanks … although the Long Range Desert Patrol didn’t invent the technical vehicle … they really came up with some great modifications… Maybe WW1 and the anti-aircraft/ anti-tank trucks and armored trucks were ..
1
I’m betting it was the fly by wire trying to fly an ananhedral wing or something melting at Mach 3
1
Bravo 👏 …. These story’s of the lessor known aircraft of unrealized potential … give me a case of the what if’s…. Like what if the p-40 had a turbo supercharger and how good was the Merlin in that plane …. And Supermarines 4 engine bomber prototype that was destroyed in an air raid .. and never made again … and of course all things Barnes Wallace & Percy Hobart…. Sorry I’ve gone on …yet again
1
The Spitfire was the Beauty that Killed the Beastly ugly menacing ME109 and FW190 … it still is one of the most beautiful things ever made … and the music of the Merlin … My family survived the Blitz and we consider it a protective angel …
1
Well … Twitter is dead and Elon replaced it with a Symbol that’s more than halfway to a Swastika …so like many of the Nazi Industrialists , he is making these statements out of self interest/ promotion…
1
The Tank is alive and well .. maybe the auto loader will make a comeback
1
Soviet Era Command and Control bringing you unnecessary tragedies like this and Flight 007 and Malaysian flight 17 … Thanks to the Author for bringing the lessons of History to us …!
1
I wonder how many miles of the road to hell was paved by Carter’s good intentions…!
1
If you build a plane with unbelievable performance and specs they will have to have it … but a modest airframe that can be introduced now … no one will believe you can make it.. I’m kind a surprised the Canberra even got produced
1
@andysweetland8645 yeah well … I just finished reading Some Beatnick poetry so… I blame modern literature
1

1

Russia’s terrain was meant for a helicopter
1
40 years ago this week our Task Force centered around the carrier USS Forestall maneuvered 100 miles off Murmansk … Playing Chicken with the Soviet Navy … we flew the F/4 j Phantom as our interceptor… does that count as a forgotten Aircraft …?
1
@EdNashsMilitaryMatters thanks so much …. the Douglas Sky Ray is one I can’t find anything on .. it still has the single engine climb record ..
