  1. I have lived in SW Florida for 30 years. Seen a lot of hurricanes out in the Gulf. Hurricane Helene was outrageous. It was a Cat 1 all the way up the coast, probably 120 miles off the coast. The further it moved away, the stronger the winds were. It was the oddest thing. Hurricane Katrina was 180 mph storm when it passed by in the gulf, about the same distance away as Helene. We were out in the gulf fishing that weekend. Just a stiff breeze. Helene was NOT natural. Storms don't get stronger as they pull away.
