I would like to point out, craig, that the 2008 housing market crash, started the worst EVER economic crisis in American history. And that includes the 1929 market crash and resulting 12 year Depression. You cant qualify for those home loans if you are unemployed and dont have a income craig.

Do a quick search on who does the Federal Reserve Charman answer to, is it the president. The short answer is No. The Federal Reserve Chairman is a independent entity and DOES NOT answer to Anyone, for monetary policy, not the President, not Congress, not the Senate, the Federal Reserve Board is who the Chairman answers to. Peroid.

@firstlast8258 Not necessarily. First quarter of 2022 down 1.6% of GDP second quarter down at .09%. However, you don't get 528,000 jobs created in a recession. If there is a recession, you wouldn't be able to tell that by the employment figures.

@firstlast8258 People who stopped looking for work dosen't affect that 528,000 jobs created number. Note the words: Jobs Created. If we ARE in a recession, it isn't a "traditional" recession. Oh, and the unemployment numbers are at a low of 3.9(ish)%. So you can look at it as a glass half empty, glass half full kind of thing.

@firstlast8258 No they are not...what?

@rodak6663 Technically and by traditional definitions yes, sorta, kinda, maybe. The first two quarters of GDP in 2022 have indeed fallen, 1.6% in the first quarter and .9% in the second quarter, however the strong labor market of 528,000 jobs created in those 2 quarters, have thrown the traditional business definition of a recession in the trash. So are we in a recession? Maybe. Kinda. Sorta. Your guess is as good as mine say the "experts". And no, President Biden has no controll over wether a economic downturn is being called a recession, depression or anything else.

@dru70292 Tha housing crash of 2008 started the worst economic depression since 1929, if not THE worst EVER economic crisis dimwitt. No one can qualify for a house, if you are unemployed or on welfare/foodstamps to keep from starving.
