Its been in gradual decline the more the welfare state became stronger.People unkowingly became more and more 'dependent' on it as a 'safety net' when things didnt work out as they hoped.A gradual malais took over the unthinking masses whilst millions more grabbed the oppotunities available and became sucessful.The wider the income gap grew the more resentment grew amongst those being left behind A 'victim ' mentality took hold and governments used this section of the populace to pander to and glean their vote.Thus expanded the Welfare handouts.This worked for so long but 'events' took over throwing this policy out.Mass immigration is now being used to try and reverse this trend but its too late.Illegal immigration is working against the very fabric which once held this country together.

  2.  @DIBBY40  Nothing wrong with 'consumer goods' They drive the economy (if those goods were made in Britain) The problem we face today is that 'we' dont make anything to sell to the outside world anymore.Everything we want is made in China.

  3. Thats where you ate so wrong.The teaching of our Christian heritage worked but in many different ways . Such a teaching can only be 'realised' later in life but those planted seed of knowledge often only show results later in life .I bless my late mother for her encouragement to become a part of our local church as a child vis singing in the choir.I see the results of our Godless society every day and feel very sorry indeed.
