Knowledge of our past is essential .Thats half the problem with our youth today.They are being fed a diet of negativity .Thats the result of leftwing indoctrination .They have always resented our success and spent fifty years after the war trying to destroy our economy.Now they seem seem desperate to remain a part of a club they accused of being a 'capital stitch up'.Suddenly our 'economy 'is all important.The hypocricy of the left knows no bounds.We should be proud of of our history.Nothing to be ashamed of.

@sandall7398 The 'English' were never consulted about whether or not they wanted an 'Empire'In most cases it came about more by accident than design Dont confuse the issue by assuming 'all English' people wanted the Empire They didnt gain much from it other than sweatshop labour spinning cotton.!

@Innoruuk Im sorry you havent educated yourself sufficiently on this topic otherwise you would be asking such purile questions.Indeed I lived in an African country for 20 years with a huge Indian population .Those I did discuss this topic with all spoke favourably about British rule.As for the African continent I cant think of one that is now better off having gained independence some for over thirty years.Most are still third world shitholes I wouldnt let my dog live in.South Africa having at last thrown off the shackles of 'white rule' is busy returning to 'its African' roots.In other words joining the rest of that continent in the dustbin.

blad90 you grossly exagerate the negative effects if 'looking back 'at our history.Also to try and paint nationalists as hankering after a Britain long gone and wanting it to be 'white'again is ridiculous.You know as we all know that is now impossible.What perhaps 'nationalists 'want is a united country working togeter to build a prosperous nation whilst recognising our past inheritance and 'occasionaly'recognising its achievements .We acknowledge the good and the bad that Empire brought and should have nothing but praise for our armed forces and honour our war dead.Our Christian faith has been the bedrock upon which our nation has been built and this we must hold to.Islam poses a real threat to the peace and security of our people and must be removed from our shores.(It will be one day but not untill theres been a violent awakening)

@Innoruuk We left a legact of law and order in India for instance and an infrastructure still cherished today.Not to mention the English language.Every African former colony was left in a better state than when Britain first found them.Cant say there has been much improvement since we left.Thats just for starters.There's plenty more if you want but that should satisfy your curiosity for now.

@bossendenwoodconvict trying to 'talk sense'to the younger generation is a thankless task.Darent talk 'politics' even to my own grown up children.!It seems we are destined to continue to make the same mistakes over and over.Of course that neednt be the case.Its just that the two establishment parties use the 'system' to 'generate' the same old topics to create'division' in order to maintain this illusion of democracy we have here.I dont foresee any change in the near or distant future.I lost an uncle (my mothers brother aged 21 in the 1st world war and uncle in the second.My father and other uncles survived that war .Its very fashionable to deride the heroes and leaders of those two wars and in the next twenty years they will become as known about as little as the Napoleonic or Waterloo battles.The 'left'will have airbrushed them away.

@ELCNUmorFnaMehT Rubbish .This country has been failed by the type of governance its had.This continual 'fake' democracy we have, created by an outdated form of parliamentary elections is long past its sell by date.The 'illusion 'of Left and Right slagging each other off over who can run the NHS better or supply the largest 'handouts' has kept the masses nicely under control.Its all repeating itself again right now I see and of course helped along by the media.Soon all will be nicely back on track.The tories will have increased their majority and Boris will have his mandate to agree Mays deal with the EU.Brexit in name only will be pushed through and life will go back to normal again.Gods in his heaven and alls well with the world and the Brits can go back to sleep again.

@doaabr Im sure you feel better for writing all that self righteous stuff but it cuts no ice in the real world.Capitalism has its faults as we know but its proven to be the best system for raising people from poverty It works because it allows opportunity for anyone willing to 'work for something'There are people who are willing and able to risk their all in partaking in the world of free enterprise.Not all make it but many do.The vast majority are happy to work for whatever they feel they are worth within the system.Sociialism or whatever you want to dress it up as has been tried and has always failed because in 'intrudes' into peoples lives which is unacceptable in todays society.It fails also because it ignores the fact that 'people 'are different .No two people want the same things in life thank goodness.Socialism is fine for those sold on the idea and are happy to live their lives in complete harmony with likeminded people but most of us would suffocate under the mindlessness of a system that would discourage innitiative and prevent empowerment because one might fear being accused of self improvement or worse 'selfishness'!
