Is he? His forecasts seem to get less accurate with each election cycle. Granted, the fact that the zone is being flooded with polls that aren't even trying to be accurate doesn't help with that, but neither does Silver's credulity in treating a brand-new "poll" by two high school kids as if it were just as valid a data point as legitimate polls by pollsters with a track record.

Back before 538 fired him, it took Nate Silver for fucking ever to acknowledge that Rasmussen wasn't merely right-leaning but outright dishonest. He refuses to acknowledge that Republicans are using Steve Bannon's "flood the zone with shit" strategy for polling as well. Just like they have their fake news outlets to prevent the average person from knowing what's real and what's fake, they have fake polling outlets to sow confusion about who's winning elections.

As far as those right-wing fake polls go? I'm pretty sure it was Trafalgar Group that actually got caught faking their poll results in either 2020 or 2022, and responded by no longer showing any crosstabs for their polls.

Doesn't Silver weight every poll to be Trumpier than their actual results show, on the basis of "nothing is normal when it comes to Trump, so just assume he's doing better than the polls suggest"?

@SorryStamin He's employed by Peter Thiel. That's plenty of reason to doubt whether Silver is even doing real statistics.
