@TeemoTemosson The US had the luxury of being the the other side of the planet from where the actual fighting was happening.

@claudiopereira9900 It's Trump who does that.

@Legion617 He's Texan, so he's probably done a very good job of avoiding any education.

@darkjamlord A "ceasefire" with Russia isn't worth anything. Every "deal" Russia agrees to, they always violate.
2
@ Yes, the same thing happened in World War I. The last general election had been in 1910. A new election would've been due during the war, but was postponed indefinitely. But as soon as the armistice with Germany was signed, a new election was immediately called.

@grandcanyon-d4d NATO membership has nothing to do with this. Ukraine only sought to join NATO because Russia had already invaded them. The cause of this war is that Russia doesn't accept Ukraine as being a truly independent nation. They think Ukraine should always have to be a vassal state like Belarus.

@Sec_coach Zelenskyy has every option to just say no to Trump.
1
@ronald3836 The United States under the Trump regime already has dropped all support for Ukraine. It's not about Zelenskyy, it's about Trump's love affair with Putin.
1
@stonewalljackson4660 The United States wasn't under attack during WW2. None of the 48 states had any territory under enemy occupation.
1
@stonewalljackson4660 Alaska and Hawaii didn't become states until 1959. They didn't get a vote in American elections during World War II. Guam still doesn't get any vote. And Wake Island is uninhabited. Maybe you should try to educate yourself.

And Churchill was also never actually "elected" as PM (ie winning an election while party leader). Not as for WW2, that is. He would win the 1951 election as leader of the Tories. The National Government was elected in 1935 and Stanley Baldwin was the PM. Baldwin resigned 2 years later and Neville Chamberlain became PM. Chamberlain designed in 1940 and Churchill became PM. At that point, all parties agreed that the elections which were due would be postponed indefinitely. Once Germany surrendered, the postponement came to an end.
1
@hamishgaffaney5323 How many elections did Britain hold during World War I and World War II? The answer is zero. In both cases, elections were postponed indefinitely until the wars ended.
1
@randomfootballfan2952 The problem is that that how will those elections work with 1/5 of Ukraine being under Russian occupation? Russia will just use that as a way to try and rig the outcome of the election. And Russia already has a history of rigging Ukrainian elections in the past.
1
@randomfootballfan2952 No, Ukraine was not the most corrupt nation in Europe. Even if we don't count Russia as being "in Europe", there's still nations like Belarus, Hungary, and Serbia. And with regard to Churchill during WW2? He didn't become PM by election, he became PM because Chamberlain resigned. And Chamberlain had himself also become PM without an election, because Stanley Baldwin resigned. When a new general election was held in 1945 after the war ended, it had been 10 years since the last time Britons had gotten to vote for their MPs. Nobody complained about that; all parties agreed it's just how things are to be done in wartime. And the same was done during World War I, when the Parliament elected in 1910 remained in place for 8 years, new elections having been delayed until immediately after the Armistice.
1
@ Nope. Lay off the Russian disinformation.
1
Russia will do more than just propaganda, they'll actively work to rig the elections.
1
@OLDGUY7301 Trump most certainly has not gained popularity since the election.
1
That's exactly what I've predicted all along that Trump will do if he wins a second term. Had he won the 2020 election, he would've probably coordinated the start of the invasion with Putin.
